State Transition Program

The State Transition Program is coordinated by Personnel Employment (a service of Barkuma Incorporated) on behalf of the Department of Education and Children's Services and a range of other stakeholders.

It aims to assist students with disabilities make a successful transition from school to the workforce, a traineeship, apprenticeship or further education and is recognised nationally as a best practice model.

The Program, which takes place over three school terms, gives students with disabilities a head-start through employment skills training, accredited industry training, structured work placement and assistance with job seeking with the support of a Disability Employment Service (DES) agency.
